This Tower Hill grad is arguably one of the best jumpers in Delaware high school history. He won numerous state titles in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump. In 1977, he was ranked the top high school sophomore in the country by Track & Field News with a triple jump of 49’ 2-1/2″ at the Atlanta Track Classic.
He won the New Castle Country long jump and triple jump three times each, and the state final long jump and triple jump twice each as well as the Penn Relays triple jump championship in 1979 with a jump of 47’ 9″. Ty is 13th (22’ 10-1/4″) on the All-Time high school long jump list and 2nd (49’ 2-1/2″) on the All-Time triple jump list. He also registered a 23’ 9″ wind-aided long jump in winning the state individual final in 1979.
