Gil Mahla

Hall of Fame induction: 2011

Gil was an outstanding sprinter, going undefeated in the 220yd and 440yd dashes during his entire senior year at Claymont High School in 1955. At the state meet that year, Gil set meet & state records in both races covering the 220 yards in :21.8 and the 440 yards in :50.9 on cinders. He also won the New Castle County 220yd and 440yd dashes. At the University of Delaware, he was undefeated as a freshman and anchored the mile relay team to the first win at the Penn Relays since 1935, while winning the Middle Atlantic States Conference Championship.
