Hall of Fame induction: 2008
While competing for Cape Henlopen H. S., Willie won 10 gold medals (tying for 3rd place on the Delaware H.S. All-time Gold Medal List) at the Division II State Outdoor Championships. In 1994, he helped Cape win the Division II State Championship by winning 4 individual championships (110m HH in :14.86; 300m HH in :40.17; HJ at 6’6″; LJ at 21’ 3″). He has accumulated 14 State Champion gold medals: 10 gold medals outdoors and 4 gold medals indoors.
In 1992, he was the State Indoor Track “Athlete of the Year”. Willie’s versatility is shown by his records on the Delaware High School All-Time Performance Lists (Indoors: High Jump at 6’4″, 14th place tie; Long Jump at 22’ 0-3/4″, 15th place tie; Triple Jump at 46’ 3″, 9th place, and Outdoors: High Jump at 6’ 8-1/2″, 6th place; Triple Jump at 47’ 2-1/4″, 12th place).
